Just curious, I thought that there was a penalty to bidding over 30 dollars on a Free Agent in that if you bid higher than 30 dollars that player then could not be dropped until the following season? Which would make Soggy's claim of Davone Bess invalid from last week Wednesday, as Green-Ellis has a tag of 35 dollars. Not sure I remember this being changed in the offseason...if it was I appologize for missing it. Thanks Lightning

Players making $30 or higher. a. <!--[endif]-->Any free agent acquired with a bid or waiver claim of $30 or more may not be waived until after the auction draft the following year. b. <!--[endif]-->If such a player is released at any time during the following season, the team owner pays a $10 luxury tax towards their salary cap. This will apply for the current season and the following season's cap. So I will have to keep him, and can only release him next year after the draft, and I'll give $10 in cap space in 2009 and 2010 ?

Or you can keep him all next year and drop him in the off season at no penalty.

hmmm if I trade him, does the team that gets him have the same obligations to the contract or could they drop him ? I really never understood that rule and didn't even think about it when I bid on him. The rule punishes those who have managed their cap and have cap space to spend. Oh well ....
